Clarity, an AI cybersecurity startup, has raised $16 million in seed funding led by Walden Catalyst Ventures and Bessemer Venture Partners to defend against deepfakes. The round also included first-check investor Secret Chord Ventures, Ascend Ventures, Fusion VC, and Flying Fish Partners.

The patent-pending technology by Clarity detects AI manipulations in videos, images, and audio and authenticates media with encrypted watermarking. Their goal is to preserve trust in the digital world and protect organizations from the growing threat of deepfakes, which pose unprecedented risks to society.

Organizations can integrate Clarity’s solution into their workflows to mitigate risks and protect digital integrity. The technology allows users to stay “one fake ahead” of hyper-realistic generative AI production, thus safeguarding against financial fraud, political election manipulation, and other forms of deception.

The executive team at Clarity brings together deep domain expertise within cybersecurity, AI, and deep learning, including experience from Unit 8200, Standard, Harvard, the National Security Council, Check Point Technologies, and the satellite intelligence industry. Their multidisciplinary approach has been critical in developing cutting-edge models and infrastructure for media security and analysis at scale.
